Meet Kari Martinez, a Certified Personal Trainer (CPT), Certified Nutrition Coach (CNC), and mum of two who is reshaping how women approach strength — with discipline that supports your life, not dominates it. Her coaching is grounded in self-respect, balance, and consistency; she helps women build muscle, energy, and confidence in ways that fit real routines, real bodies, and the changing seasons of womanhood.
Kari’s approach is rooted in learning and lived experience. For her, fitness isn’t meant to consume you or chase perfection — it’s meant to support you. She rejects shortcuts and pressure in favor of strength that’s built with intention, clarity, and compassion.
Today, Kari empowers women to train with purpose, fuel with confidence, and create progress they can live in — not break themselves for. Strength that feels like growth. Like alignment. Like coming home to yourself.
Can you share a little about who you are and how your journey into fitness began? Was there a moment or experience that sparked it?
I’ve always been drawn to fitness, but for many years I lacked direction and a clear plan, which left me spinning my wheels. The defining moment came during a family vacation when I felt sluggish, fatigued, and disconnected from my own body. I didn’t feel comfortable in my skin, and that realization stayed with me. It became clear that something needed to change—not just for my health, but for my confidence, my longevity, and how I showed up for the people I love.
What has fitness taught you about yourself — and how has that changed the way you live your life today?
Fitness taught me that I am far stronger than I ever gave myself credit for. It showed me that I am capable of more, and most importantly, that I am worth the effort. My relationship with food shifted from simply enjoying flavors to understanding nourishment and how it supports my body and overall well-being.
Today, fitness influences every area of my life. It has given me energy, resilience, discipline, and confidence—and a mindset that carries me through challenges both inside and outside the gym.
What does a typical week look like for you in terms of routines, movement, or habits?
My week begins on Sunday with preparation—grocery shopping and meal prep to set the tone for success. I weight train five days a week, allowing for two active recovery days so my body can rest and rebuild.
I also protect two hours a day as uninterrupted time for myself—whether that’s early in the morning before the day begins or in the evening after dinner. Within those seven days, I prioritize 8,000 to 10,000 steps of steady-state movement daily. That time is essential for my mental clarity, stress relief, and emotional balance.
What role do habits play in lasting results — and what’s one habit you encourage every woman to start with?
Habits are everything. They are the foundation of discipline and long-term success. Without strong habits, consistency simply doesn’t exist. The first habit I encourage every woman to adopt is making self-care non-negotiable. Even starting with just 30 minutes a day creates momentum and reinforces the belief that you are worth prioritizing.
How often do you train in a typical week, and what does your current routine look like?

I train with weights five days a week and incorporate two active recovery days. I also prioritize daily steady-state movement, typically reaching 8,000 to 10,000 steps each day.
What advice would you offer to women who feel intimidated or unsure where to begin with fitness?
Structure is key. I always recommend working with a personal trainer or following a reputable online program so you have guidance and a plan. It’s also important to remember that every single person in the gym started at day one. The fitness community is far more supportive than people realize, and most individuals are happy to help if you simply ask.
How do you take care of your mental and emotional health?
My training is one of my greatest tools for mental and emotional well-being. Movement allows me to release stress, reset my mindset, and process the demands of daily life. Fitness isn’t just physical—it’s deeply therapeutic for me.
What would you recommend to a woman who is looking to feel mentally and physically strong? Where should she start?
Physical strength builds mental strength. I recommend starting with a structured weight-training program and learning the fundamentals—proper form, progressive overload, and consistency. As women begin to see their bodies change and their strength increase, confidence follows naturally, both physically and mentally.
What are your three favorite exercises — and why do they matter to you?
Choosing just three is difficult, but my favorites are variations of the leg press, belt squat, and shoulder press. Each of these movements represents strength, stability, and progress. Every session, they remind me that I am building something stronger—both physically and mentally.
Many women struggle to stay consistent. What helps you keep showing up, even on low-motivation days?
Motivation comes and goes—discipline is what carries you forward. The days you don’t feel like showing up are often the days you need it most. Once you commit and follow through, the reward is almost always greater than expected. I also show up for more than just myself. I want my children to see that prioritizing health is possible at any stage of life, and that strength is built through commitment and self-respect.
What do you wish more women knew about building strength — not just in the body, but in everyday life?
Strength extends far beyond muscle. It builds resilience, confidence, patience, and self-trust. When a woman learns to push through discomfort in the gym, she learns to face challenges in life with greater confidence. Strength changes how you carry yourself, how you set boundaries, and how you show up in the world.
Who are you beyond movement — what do you love doing when you’re not training or coaching?
I’m an adventurer at heart. I love being outdoors with my family—boating, wakeboarding, hiking, snowboarding—anything that allows us to move, explore, and create memories together. My family is my foundation, and time spent with them is always my greatest priority.
What Kari brings is clarity: structure without rigidity. Strength without burnout. Progress without sacrificing joy, health, or identity. Her work reminds us that taking care of ourselves isn’t selfish — it’s a foundation for how we show up, how we lead, and how we set the standard for what we deserve.
When we invest in our well-being, we raise the tone for how we want to be treated — and show other women what’s possible.
Give yourself permission to grow, evolve, and step into the strongest version of you — inside and out.
